Kahar
A numerous & widely scattered community in Northern Indian states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, Punjab, Rajasthan, Jammu region of J.K.,Himanchal and Bihar. In Maharashtra there are Huge People of Kahar community also known as Dhimbar Surname Like Gavhane, Jire, Lakariya, Lahire, Pandure, Rasne...
In Gujarat, huge people of kahar community (known as Bhoy community) in Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Bhavnagar, Porbandar, Rajpipla,Bharuch, Surat and known as Bhoy his surname . mainly engaged with fishing business, Services.
In Jammu and Himachal they called themselves Dogra and Kasyap Rajpoot. In Punjab, they are Jhinwar or Jhimmar.
In Central India they are known as Keer, Bhoi, Dhimmar, Dimmar, Dhevar, Dewar, Naavda .

    I got few queries of mine,which are running in my mind since I was 12.

    What is the difference between Chandravanshi Kahar and Chandravanshi Kshatriye ?
    What is the difference Chandravanshi Rawani and Kharwar/Batham/Raikwar?
    Is Hierarchy also there ?

    Would also like to know from respected members that whether kahar and chandravanshi kahar are same thing. In couple of matrimonial sites, i have seen chandravanshi kahar/Rawani/Ramani?

    I know few of them who basically belong to KAHAR community but they have changed their social staus to RAJPUTS due to social stigma which is very painful to hear...

    Can any one provide the details of CHANDRAVANSHI KAHAR communty as to what are the other Names and Tiltle they keep also please let me know what is the exact TILTLE for us (CHANDRAVANSHI KAHAR ) as a SURNAME...because i find many diferent titles like..Singh...Prasad..Sharma...etc

    Would feel happay to know if some one can provide correct and trusted details so that we can pass this valuable inforamtion to other members.

    Haan Sahi baat hai. Apne Caste ke log surname se phechan me main problem hoti hai. Example " singh" , " chauhan" "tomar" surname Rajput bhi likhtey hai aur hum bhi, " kashyap" and " Verma" surname Brahmin bhi likhtey hain aur hum bhi.

    कहार जाति के लोगों को प्रचलित भाषा मे गोंड कहा जाता है। ये शादी में डोली ले जाने, पानी भरने आदि का काम किया करते थे.यह काम अभी समाप्त होने की कगार पर है
