Hi am Prabhat Gaud from Mumbai home town U.P (Jaunpur, Post-Katwar(Mirganj), Village-Paprawan)) Our community is divide in many society & many cast.Also many of them are runnig many diffrent trust & Samaj like Adivasi Sangh, Gaud Samaj, Dhuriya Samaj but also these trust & samaj are not united and don't come under one roof.
Also some of the Kahar who are well establised and finiancially strong they try to hide there identity don't help the people of our community who are down.
There are also many other issue which has to be solved to make our community strong and powerful.

Who is a kahar? i ask this question because although being of this caste {as i have been told by my nana) i really do not know what it means. I was born and brought up outside India so much that the very word seems not to mean anything to me. I am currently carryig out research on my family history and this is undeniable part of my identity. i would be grateful for any hekp you could provide me. Presently i would like to know a bit more about the rituals practised by the Kahars as regarding whom they consider to be their main deity. Thank you, vickram
There are very few people of our cast are setteled outside of India nd good to know that you are one of them... Most of the people of our community belongs to the Hindu category so they used to worship all Hindu deity. 'Mumbadevi'and 'Tuljabhavani' are the main daity(I hope u mean 'Kuldaivat',we call it as a 'Kuldaivat') of our community. Temple of 'Mumbadevi is in Mumbai' and of 'Tuljabhavani' is in Tuljapure. Okey Vikram I'll come back for you with more details about rituals followed by our cast... Hi,First of all I would like to say that I am very much surprise to see so many response to the blog also very sorry to response late to the blog. Thanks to Mr. Shailendra Kr Sinha, Mr. Radheshyam & Mr. Dilip. I would like to define Kahar in very few words for Mr Vickram. Kahar are backward caste people in the society who is to serve the higher class of the society by drawing the water from the well, lifting the Dolis & to do stage dance shows in weddings . and this stills continues in some of the places.
Now I would like have our active participation to bring beautiful people like all of you here. I a have seen many kahar samaj and went to meetings but they are not successful in there motive because they lack the sprit of helping the poor ones as because they have only words to say but no particles solution.
Here I would like have some practical and strong people who would help each other by providing good jobs, business, ideas, charity to our people as because they would act as a base to our society and in return the week would help the strong. To my best of my thinking this is the fastest way to lift our society.
Also if you all permit I would make like to make a kahar community site at facebook where it would be easy to join the people can keep the record of the people and there details. However this blog will continue even after creating the site at facebook.

A tribe who engage in cultvation particularly in connection with growing water nuts in lakes, fishing, palanquin carrying, and domestic service. This variety of occupation renders a complete analysis of the tribe and its sub castes very difficult. Kahars are sometimes known as Mahra (Sanskrit, Mahila, "a woman"), because they have the entry of the female apartments. Another name for them is Dhimer, (sanskrit, Dhivara, " a fisherman"), though some of them profess to regard it as a honoric term from sanskrit Dhi, or "intellect, intelligence". When they are engaged in domestic service they are often known as Behara which is probably a corruption of the English "bearer". Hi me satish kumar singh originally belong to Gaya in Bihar.I studied B.Tech from IT BHU and working in up govt. I m chandrwanshi by cast which is synonym of kahar in Bihar.BUT I m surprised to learn that this synonym is only in Bihar. outside Bihar no one conceive it. chadravanshi cast have believe that they r descendent of Jarashandh MAHRAJ. There is KAHAR CAST in all states of India but it is known by chandrwanshi in BIHAR only. I interpret it that chandrwanshi people in Bihar originally belong to descendent of Jarasandh mahraj who was Chandrawanshi Kshatriya but due to some social downfall they hide themselves and adopted the work of Kahar community. But they remembered about their descendent and adopted the cast name Chandrwanshi. THIS IS THE REASON Kahar cast is known as Chandrwanshi in Bihar. one more thing when u see 4 varnas in HINDU - Brahmin , Kshatriya, Vaishya ,Sudra. U can correlate that kahar or chandrwanshi does not comes in Brahmin , Vaishya and Sudra. So only option left is that chandrwanshi/kahar is from Kshatriya verna. I think this will help to understand a bit about the cast chandrwanshi.

DEAR, RAMJEE PRASAD... I think you are misunderstood, Kahar is a well known community. And the community is not known for GARIB LACHAR LOG, Well that might be the situation in the place u have seen. But it dosent mean that all the peoples of community are GARIB and LACHAR. Accepted most of our community peoples are backword but We are devloping ourselves.

I was away from blog for the long time as i have visited today and feel good to see so many debate.
My basic point of view is not to debate about the status of our community but wether people are rich or poor but bring those fundamentally and economically srong pople together to help our needy people. Help can be in form of providing better jobs , creating bussines ideas, getting benefits from govt., marriages etc.
To make this thing come true we have to come unite I dont know how to do this would welcome your ideas.

Kahar are backward caste people in the society who is to serve the higher class of the society by drawing the water from the well, lifting the Dolis & to do stage dance shows in weddings . and this stills continues in some of the places.
Now I would like have our active participation to bring beautiful people like all of you here. I a have seen many kahar samaj and went to meetings but they are not successful in there motive because they lack the sprit of helping the poor ones as because they have only words to say but no particles solution.
Here I would like have some practical and strong people who would help each other by providing good jobs, business, ideas, charity to our people as because they would act as a base to our society and in return the week would help the strong. To my best of my thinking this is the fastest way to lift our society.
Also if you all permit I would make like to make a kahar community site at facebook where it would be easy to join the people can keep the record of the people and there details. However this blog will continue even after creating the site at facebook.

And it is aprooved by government of India.

Actually now a days I am looking bride for my younger brother,But when you search in matrimony site it is very difficult to get the chandravanshi caste.
Hi me satish kumar singh originally belong to Gaya in Bihar.I studied B.Tech from IT BHU and working in up govt. I m chandrwanshi by cast which is synonym of kahar in Bihar.BUT I m surprised to learn that this synonym is only in Bihar. outside Bihar no one conceive it. chadravanshi cast have believe that they r descendent of Jarashandh MAHRAJ. There is KAHAR CAST in all states of India but it is known by chandrwanshi in BIHAR only. I interpret it that chandrwanshi people in Bihar originally belong to descendent of Jarasandh mahraj who was Chandrawanshi Kshatriya but due to some social downfall they hide themselves and adopted the work of Kahar community. But they remembered about their descendent and adopted the cast name Chandrwanshi. THIS IS THE REASON Kahar cast is known as Chandrwanshi in Bihar. one more thing when u see 4 varnas in HINDU - Brahmin , Kshatriya, Vaishya ,Sudra. U can correlate that kahar or chandrwanshi does not comes in Brahmin , Vaishya and Sudra. So only option left is that chandrwanshi/kahar is from Kshatriya verna. I think this will help to understand a bit about the cast chandrwanshi.

i just saw this chandravanshi kahar - name for the first time, on matrimony, what does it mean exactly? which caste it belongs to please? is it into categorized into bc , sc or st ? plz don't mind for asking, as i just saw very recently only. as per my knowledge, it's not exist at all in brahmin & vysya too. coud any one have clear clarity about this please? as i already had search in Google & Wikipedia too, before i found this blog & had a glace look into those, to know about this. is it tribal or scheduled caste ?

ReplyDeleteI was away from blog for the long time as i have visited today and feel good to see so many debate.
My basic point of view is not to debate about the status of our community but wether people are rich or poor but bring those fundamentally and economically srong pople together to help our needy people. Help can be in form of providing better jobs , creating bussines ideas, getting benefits from govt., marriages etc.
To make this thing come true we have to come unite I dont know how to do this would welcome your ideas.
